Story
Please help me support the newer women in the Brixton Sangha!
Our dear friend Amarapuspa has done so much to help befriend, teach, support and encourage women in Brixton Buddhist Community to live a life inspired by meditation, Dharma practice and spiritual community. But Amarapuspa is now stepping down as our Mitra Convenor and although she will continue her friendships with those women already established in our community, who will now be the contact point for newer women coming along to our events?
There is now a real need to befriend the amazing new generation of women coming along to our events. To help them find their feet in our community, and support them in the challenges of establishing a life changing practice. Yes, we can do this as a community, but it’s become clear we need someone to act as the focal point for this initiative.
I have been asked by the trustees of our Brixton community to form a new role for a ½ day per week, called ‘Women’s Sangha Coordinator, in which I could:
- establish contact with the newer women coming along to Brixton Buddhist Community.
- co-lead taster sessions of study for those who want to move towards a new weekly study group.
- organise and programme the women's events in Brixton, such as the quarterly women's study with Vajratara and Danayutta,
With your help to support me in my living costs, I’d be in a good position to start this new role,
Brixton charity is currently running at a deficit which means to get this initiative going we’d need to raise the money as a community. Raising £1250 will enable me to to support the next generation of women coming to Brixton Buddhist Community for the next 6 months.
Thanks for your generosity, Love Lizzy
