Story

Broad-way Players are raising money to help sustain our home, a valued theatre and heart of our community. The arts industry and other local initiatives continue to suffer through the COVID-19 pandemic, so we need to do what we can to 'Support The Seagull'. On Monday 16th March 2020, the government recommended people should not go to the theatre and forced a much-loved building to close and has remained so for almost a year since.

Whilst socially distanced performances may soon be permitted to resume, the limited audience numbers, low consumer confidence and restrictions to productions means this local icon is in jeopardy. It's more than just a theatre, it's an important performing arts and community venue, offering a diverse range of shows, classes and workshops for the local community.

The building was previously saved from closure, when the SOS (‘Save our Seagull’) group was formed and the patrons of which are Oscar-winning actress Dame Judi Dench and Desmond Barrit who pledged to support campaigners fighting to save their theatre.

Once again, we have an opportunity to support The Seagull and ensure this vital resource continues to thrive and be around for future generations to enjoy.

Please donate whatever you can to keep The Seagull flying.

Thank you.
