Sophie and Fiona were seized from a private keeper by a Local Authority after being found in very poor conditions at a puppy farm (the dogs have all been rescued and re-homed as well). These poor Raccoons were locked in a cage, with food and water just pushed through the bars each day. Raccoons are very clever, and active animals, and must have been going absolutely stir crazy in these conditions!

When we heard of their plight, we offered to foster them here at the sanctuary, and it soon became apparent that they were happy with us! They calmed right down and instantly bonded with one of our keepers and have even started to respond to training. So rather than uproot them again, we’d love to keep them here and give them the lives that they so deserve.

So... We have an enclosure space in mind, but it needs a lot of work before we can call it Home for them. After being stuck in a little cage for so long, we want them to have the best outdoor enclosure that we can possibly build for them and turn their lives completely around.

Raccoons love to climb and play. They’re very clever animals, and very active, so we need to build an enclosure with all of this in mind so that they have lots to do and explore, and never become bored. We want them to have a nice warm shelter from the elements, as well as some features with our wonderful supporters and visitors in mind so that you can also enjoy seeing them as much as we do!

They’re safe and sound in our Quarantine facility at the moment, but we can’t wait to get them out! Now we just need the materials to begin to create their new Forever Home.
