Story
Well folks, this is it!
The challenge of cycling from Volunteer Park, Hawick, to Abernant Park, Glynneath, South Wales (Monday, 22nd July - Friday, 26th July).
As I said to Sharon, if this is my mid-life crisis, then she has nothing to worry about!!
For those who know me, this is well out of my comfort zone - given my ballast size and the added fact that I have virtually not been on a bike since coming off stabilisers 50 years ago!!!
However, two charities in memory of two unique individuals will hopefully benefit.
Firstly, Dr Eddie Brogan... my Father, a Gentleman and the life and soul of a party. Dad died earlier in the year. He was a GP in Hawick for over 30 years and the Renal Unit at the Borders General Hospital was very supportive to him. A very well run professional unit, they constantly require funding to make patients' lives more comfortable.
Secondly, Michael "Tubby" Griffiths. A larger than life character who, through the Hawick Trades / Glynneath Annual Rugby Fixture, had many friends in Hawick. Michael was diagnosed with MND in January 2020 and passed away October 2021.
While we will all one day lose the war, we will have battled to win. When diagnosed with MND, there are simply no battles to win. A cure, a ray of hope to boost chances of survival, has to be found. This is a brutal disease.
BROGAN'S BIKERS 🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴
I am very fortunate to have Jason Little, Stuart Deeks, Garry Douglas, Graham Hogg and Garry McNeil join me in this challenge. They all bring something to the table.
Therefore, please donate what you can in memory of two great individuals and two great causes.
With grateful thanks - Eddie and the Bikers.
