My name is Brogen Berwick, I’m a 19 year old Foundation Diploma student from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. After a highly competitive application and selection process I have been offered a place at the prestigious Eindhoven Design Academy in the Netherlands.

At this institution I will have the opportunity to launch my career and make a real contribution towards sustainable design. I’m incredibly passionate about combating plastic pollution and I want to change the attitudes of future generations to be more educated about the long term impact of plastics and single use products on our environment.

Along with all the overwhelming excitement about being one of the successful applicants from across the world, I also have to face the reality that I have no access to the English student loan system. As a single parent my Mother is not in a position to support me financially. I am currently working full time to try and pay for transport, materials, rent & daily living expenses in The Netherlands but the sheer reality is that I am not going to be able to meet the living costs without alternative funding.

The course is for 4 years and the yearly living expensives I will encounter include:

Rent= roughly £400 per month £400 x 12 months = £4,800 per year. Then x4 years =£19,200

Materials= estimated £500 per term there are 4 terms = £2000 per year. Then x4 years = £8,000
