Story

I'm raising £400 for The Broken XI Cricket Club. The Broken XI is a cricket club I set up to help those who are "broken", be it physically, emotionally, mentally, lonely or any other type of broken you can think of. We use the power of team sport, in this case cricket, to work together to try and feel less broken. While we dont play to lose, we dont measure success on the scoreboard. If we all enjoy the day, feel a little less broken and support each other then we have already won. A win on the scoreboard is just an added bonus.

To raise funds for the team, I am running the Lincoln 10k on Sunday 12th April. Because I appear to hate myself a little bit and want to make it even more difficult, I will be running this in full cricket gear. Helmet, gloves, leg pads, bat, the full shabang. At time of writing, I am 116kg/18.2 stone and have bad knees, so would be difficult enough in shorts and t-shirt.

The money raised will help us keep the costs to members to a minimun. We dont believe access to mental health support should be dependent on your finances, and members only pay what they can afford (we dont charge memberahip fees, but a pay as you play/train system) so we try and limit the costs to members but there are costs to be covered (pitch hire, winter net hire, cricket tea, equipment replacement etc). Your donations will help us achieve our aim of providing the support we do at the cheapest cost to members.
