I have been successfully chosen to be the Deputy Unit Leader for Unit 87, taking a group of 36 young people to the next World Scout Jamboree. This event runs every 4 years with the next event being held in West Virginia North America in 2019. This is a really exciting opportunity for young people from across Northern Ireland to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity, to meet new people from different countries and cultures and experience extreme outdoor pursuits. Of course these young people need a leader to support and guide them through this amazing event.

My scouting role is voluntary and over the next 18 months there will be a big time commitment, including fundraising and training events. This will ensure that our young people are well equipped for the jamboree event and will help build their resilience to be away from their family for up to 3 weeks! This event may seem like a long way away but we have already been working hard to come up with our busy itinerary leading up to the event.
