I am raising money by completing the X runner a 5Km Wild Mud Run on 24th March 2018 which is hosted at Osmaston Park in Derby. This adventure race is a trail and mud run with over thirty challenging obstacles. These obstacles include mud, water, tunnels, monkey bars, fire, giant walls, cargo nets, balance beams, hurdles, jacobs ladders, tightropes and the run eXtreme.

This is to support my voluneteering activites in a local community project in Tanzania in July 2018. This will involve a four day trek in the Uluguru Mountains to a rural community well off the main roads. To support the 'Better Lives' charity helping disadvantaged schools improve their children’s health, and consequently attendance and attentiveness in the classroom, by supporting implementation and maintenance of infrastructure for water, food and sanitation. These solutions are designed to let the schools, families, and children set their own pace for life improvement.

Activities could include:

- Plant & maintain organic vegetable gardens

- Help to construct cooking areas & toilet blocks in schools

- Working on sustainable community agricultural programs.

- Work with local schools on hygiene awareness education.

- Construct an animal pen for a pig or chickens.

Better Lives mission is to help disadvantaged children grow up healthy, educated and trained to earn an income. In the past teams have built vegetable gardens, developed fish farms for families and worked directly with schools on a ‘hand wash awareness’ program. www.betterlives.org
