Story
Inspired by the guy who recently ran every street in Glasgow, and in memory of my dearest friend Alexander, I've decided to run every street in Peterhead and Boddam as a tribute to his career as a postie.
As you know, Akie passed away suddenly in April 2020 leaving Lisa, Abby, family and friends devastated. He was genuinely one of life's good guys- funny, genuine and a fantastic friend to many.
As his death and funeral happened during lockdown, it added to the helplessness of the situation.
As Akie had been a postie for 18 years, I thought a fitting tribute to him would be to run every street in Peterhead and Boddam. I'll be fitting this in round working full time and family commitments so I'm not sure how long this will take, so I've enlisted the support of my sister to keep me company on the way.
In speaking with Lisa, all money raised will be split between 2 local charities (NE Food bank and New Arc Animal Charity).
I'll be starting the challenge on the 1st March and will be posting regular updates so you can follow our progress.
Times have been tough for a lot of folk recently, so no pressure to donate but if you can spare a few quid so we can raise as much as possible for these 2 charities.
Thanks for reading

2 years agoRun These Streets Day 14 and I ran the Longside streets before going on to the liney to run home. Was surprised that I ran 4.5 miles to complete Longside before the 6 mile run along the liney. By finishing Longside tonight, I've only got Cruden Bay to run and my challenge is finished. Won't get that done now until at least a weeks time as Aimee is away for the weekend. Gives my legs a chance to recover a bit.

2 years agoHad to take a couple of weeks rest as my leg had been playing up, but was out tonight to test the leg. Had a decent run and there was no pain in my leg which was really encouraging. Realised when I was out I had missed Blackhouse Circle so put that right tonight. Will run Longside at the weekend, leaving only Cruden Bay to run and then my challenge is done!

2 years agoFirst run in nearly 2 weeks as I'd picked up a leg injury on my last 2 runs. I'd tried to run it off by going to Boddam and it ended with me hobbling back from Boddam. 2 sports massages later and i went out for a quick 5km to test the leg. Happy to report that it went OK, so that means I can resume my challenge. Only got Longside and Cruden Bay to do, so the finishing line is in sight. With pay day just round the corner, if you can spare a few quid then it'd be much appreciated!
