Story
The Brick School in Khatmandu provides education for the desperately poor children who work in the brick fields there. Born into lifelong poverty they have no chance of escaping it without education and this they simply cannot afford. Seeing this some years ago Dave Phoenix, a Wrexham based education advisor founded the school for these children. In February 2016 I am going with him to visit the school and the families who use it. My intention is to raise the money for absolute basics such as toiletries. I intend to buy the goods in Nepal to put money into the local, post-earthquake economy. Also, your money can buy a lot more there than in the UK.
The school is a hub, not only for the local children's education but also for their health. It also provides education and training for the women there, giving them the chance to earn money and drag themselves out of dire poverty.
It is an incredible charity working with the poorest people in one of the very poorest countries in the world.
Every penny of the money raised will go to buying the goods locally and distributing them through the school. All my own costs (including loss of earnings for the duration) will be borne by myself. I have set what I think is a realistic target but, between now and the beginning of February, when I travel, I just hope to raise as much as is physically possible. I know times are tough at Christmas but, rest assured, they will never be as tough as they are for these little kids for their entire life. Many, many thanks for reading this far and a huge thanks if you donate, whatever the amount.
I will evidence, as best as I can, all uses of the funds raised. Thank You, Bryan T Jones.

7 years agoWell, Crowdfunding is now over. You raised £385 which is £85 (28%) over the fairly random £300 target. With some American dollars already in hand this will be about £400 to take with me after Crowdfunding's commission. Bimal and Anitha will decide what to buy for the school and Bingo! Sometime in the next week or two it will all be handed over the little kids and their families in Kathmandu. Thank you all who donated. I will post photos and updates when we get there. What next? We will have to see. Volunteers? More fundraising maybe?

7 years agoMany thanks for donations so far, With cash donations waiting too be picked up I am two thirds of the way to collecting the three hundred pounds I set as my somewhat arbitrary target. Dave (Phoenix) has been in touch with Anita and Bimral at the Brickschool to see what they can use the money for. As soon as I know I can spread the word and firm up what is admittedly a somewhat unfocussed project at the moment. Remember, these kids have NOTHING and education is their only possible hope for breaking out of this cycle. Merry Christmas!
