Story
Paul who was working with us on the Bank Project sadly took his own life on the evening of Tuesday the 15th May.
Paul was working as a slinger signaller with one of the handworks gangs on site. Whilst Paul had not worked with us for long he was recognised by those working with him as a valuable and affable member of the team. Indeed he had expressed the wish to work his way into a mining role. Paul was only 28 years old.
It is particularly poignant that Paul chose to take his own life during what was Mental Health Awareness Week when many in the Construction Industry including ourselves and the Bank Project were raising the awareness of Mental Health Issues.
What is very clear, given the loss of Paul is that we have a lot to do to put Mental Health awareness and issues on a level footing with other Health and Safety related matters. As far as we are aware none of us knew that Paul was contemplating taking his own life and had we known we would have done our level best to prevent it.
We are setting up this Crowdfunding page to help Paul's family.
