I've raised £2995 to Were raising £2,995 to help Ben get to the 24th World Scout Jamboree to volunteer as part of the International Service Team (IST).

I've been a Beaver Scout ever since the age of 6, and I love it now just as much as the first day I walked into the hut 22 years ago. Scouting teaches you many things in life and gives you the opportunity to teach others, to make friends and meet new people but most importantly to have fun whilst doing so.
What is a Jamboree?
A Jamboree is a gathering of tens of thousands of scouts from all over the world in one place to understand, develop and experience different cultures. The Jamboree can be attended by anyone over the age of 14, with many roles on offer such as being a participant, or volunteering to help run the Jamboree program.
The theme of the Jamboree is 'Unlock a New World', which invites members to unlock new adventures, new cultures, and new friendships. The theme was originally designed by youth representatives from our three host countries, also known as the “Dream Team,” who were responsible for presenting the original bid for the 24th World Scout Jamboree
Where is the Jamboree?
The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. United States of America, West Virginia. T he Summit Bechtel Reserve comprised of more than 14,000 acres of beautiful forested mountains adjacent to more than 70,000 acres of national park in the scenic New River Gorge area of West Virginia.
What is IST?
IST is the International Service Team and they are an integral part of the Jamboree as they will help to deliver the program and help to make the children experience something they will never forget!
I have been through a few selection process and have been lucky enough to have been chosen to volunteer to help the UK contingent. To get to the Jamboree I need to raise just under £3000! This will include:
-Accommodations in tents; Use of shower houses and latrines; Kit; Insurance; Staff meals; Transportation to and from the site; Post event(which will be a few days relaxing in Washington DC)
Keeping you posted...
On the 2nd June I went up to Walesby for a pre Jamboree camp where I met with other members of the IST and got to know them a little better. I took part in team building exercises and got to learn more about the opportunities and experiences that will arise once in West Virginia. The organisers threw us an Hawaiian themed party with fun games, music and more.
Going to the Jamboree would be the best experience ever and I really can't wait to get there!
It would be the biggest help ever if you could donate, any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated and will be one step closer to this amazing experience.
Thanks!!
Ben Taylor
