Weʼve raised £765 to fund Bubugo Conservation Trust in 2017- women's literacy, community beekeeping, riverbank restoration and tree planting.
- Funded on Monday, 5th June 2017
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Poverty and environmental degradation pose significant problems to the local community where we live. Bubugo Conservation Trust is working to restore the riverbank with indigenous trees to reduce soil erosion and provide a location for our community beekeeping project, a sustainable source of income for community members. We also run the Riverbank Reading Room- a free public library for all, which runs additional women's literacy classes as well. We also work with our local women's groups to identify sources of income from craft making. All our activities are funded out of our own pocket and any donations to support our efforts in 2017 would be greatly appreciated! This year we hope to establish our Trees and Bees project (approx. £1,200 for training, hives, equipment and tree seedlings), continuing running the Riverbank Reading Room and womens literacy classes (approx. £800 per year) and also trial a community irrigation scheme (approx. £500). Bubugo Conservation Trust is a Uganda registered Community Based Organisation run by British couple Jenny Farmer and Charlie Langan who live on the banks of the Nile at Bubugo village, Jinja, Uganda.
