The Buhi Youth & Social Club Foundation objective is to establish a community building and land where chidren, youth and Families can pursue recreational pursuits, learn skills and socialise with their peers.
Buhi is a small town in the province of Camarines-Sur in the Luzon region of the Phillipines. It has a Mayor Margarita M Aguinillo and 38 Barangays which are overseen by captains. In Western terms a captain would be equivalent to a local politician. Buhi is socially deprived, dilapidated, beset by natural disasters such as Typhoons, Tropical Storms, landslides and disease. The whole area's infrastructure is beset by poverty, most people are unemployed and those that do work earn 4000 Phillipine pesos PSP (£56 or $73) a month. Many of its people live in nipa huts these consist of a bamboo building with either a corrugated tin or straw nipa roof usually measuring 20 feet by 20 feet. Living in these nipa huts are up to 3 or 4 generations of the same family. Grandparents, parents, sons and daughters and if married their spouses and children. The children and youth of Buhi are malnourished, need clothes, die with diseases that are medically treatable and need access to clean fresh water. I want to make a difference here and with the good will of people from around the world we all can. This is a newly started endeavour but I will be looking for sponsors, donations and solicitations. This will be a lifelong pursuit for myself. I pray that we will be able to provide aid to the poor of Buhi rice, food, clothing and footwear. I also propose to have a social worker and doctor for free consultations and health checks as local diseases such as dengue and yellow fever are prevalent.
