Story
“We cannot do great things on this Earth. Only small things with great love.” – Mother Teresa
We have created this Just Giving page in order to raise money to build a masjid in a financially deprived area of Bangladesh.
The role of the Masjid has always been instrumental in the social, moral and educational uplifting of the Muslim community. It provides a place for its worshippers to pray and contemplate as well as being a hub for educational programmes and other everyday services.
Our reasons for deciding to do this was inspired by the recent passing of Ali Banat, an Australian who dedicated the end of his life to charity work after being ‘gifted with cancer’. He founded his own charity (MATW) and began raising awareness, building a future and giving hope for the widowed, poor and orphaned people of Togo, Africa. He inspired the world with his love and kindness, and he left behind a legacy of giving – that it’s never too late to ‘start your own project’ and make your small stamp on our big Earth.
One of his final messages to the people was “During your life brothers and sisters just try to have a goal, try to have a plan, try to have a project that you work towards. Even if it’s not you personally doing it, and you are funding someone else’s projects, just do something, because wallahi you are going to need it on the day of judgement.’
We have decided we want to start our own project and give back to the deprived communities around the world. Many people in deprived areas of Bangladesh go without any sense of community – a place of worship can bring that for them, give them a place of shelter, develop social cohesion and enable the healing of psychological traumas. You can be a part of this huge blessing, helping the poor and destitute.
A famous hadith (saying) in Islam is as follows:
“Whoever builds a Masjid for Allah – be it large or small – Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhi)
Do you not want to be a part of this? Leave behind something that will help generations to come. If you do, we need your help and support to raise £3100.
This money will be going to Muslim Hands. Registered Charity No. 1105056 / Registered Company No. 05080486 in England.
May everyone who helps us raise these funds and raise awareness of this campaign share the rewards of this charitable act, as promised.
From our beloved children
