    Story

Over the past few months, the COVID 19 Pandemic has had a devastating affect on the charitable sector across the globe. Many charities have been forced to close, or significantly reduce their operations as a direct result. Unfortunately the Bukit Lawang Trust is no exception to this.

The Bukit Lawang Trust is a Not-For-Profit Community Education Center in Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra. It provides free education to over 250 students from 7 different rural communities across North Sumatra. In addition, it runs free business skills training. Five free fitness classes a week in activities such as Aerobics, Kickboxing, Yoga and a Running club. The trust also delivers a conservation program, an ecological farming program and many supporting projects including a womans group designed to give local women a safe environment to speak and discuss taboo subjects and receive training and education around topics such as gender equality, consent, sexual education, feminine hygiene and FGM. And a Jungle food program which during the COVID 19 pandemic has delivered essential food parcels to over 200 needy families in North Sumatra.

All of this is provided for FREE to the local community.

    SO WHATS HAPPENING!?

Throughout the month of August the Bukit Lawang Trust team will be running a total of 224 km to raise awareness and funds for the Trust.

In addition the trusts Manager and Head of Conservation Sam Oakes will be attempting to run 144km within 24 hours.. following the ancient hadrians wall from coast to coast.

    SO HOW CAN YOU HELP?

STEP 1 - donate to the Bukit Lawang Trust right here! (Every little helps!)

STEP 2 - Like and share our posts about this campaign on your social media platforms and help us reach a wider audience.

STEP 3 - help is to achieve our goal by recording your own runs, walks and rides and posting them on social media (dont forget to tag the Bukit Lawang Trust!)

From all of us here at the Bukit Lawang Trust,

Thank you very much for your support!
