    Story

    Dear Friends, thank you for visiting my JustGiving page:

    I'm writing this from the heart, with some reluctance, to ask for your help. I’lll be honest, If you’re planning to donate to a friend's medical emergency, disaster relief or legal aid then i completely understand the importance of those causes and instead would ask that you share this page on to others.

    About the project

    Four years ago the most important person in my entire life, my mother passed away. I’ve never been the same since. Infact 99% of me died that very day she did.

    Every year 40.000 children alone suffer the loss of a parent.

    Many people didn’t know I lost my mum through a stroke that was caused by cancer in April 2015, until the day I went on the X Factor. It's something I've tried to forget yet struggled to come to terms with.... I remember waking up one morning to see that my mum wasn't home. There wasn't anything strange about this as she was always out the door early to go work. However, this particular day her car was still in the drive. Shortly after my dad called to say he was at the hospital and that my mum was in a coma. I drove straight down. My dad, sisters and I stayed by her side until 11pm when we eventually got kicked out. Even though she was in a coma and had been asleep the whole time, I woke up feeling positive the next day, and certain that she was going to be coming home. I tidied her entire room and went to purchase her favourite carrot cake from Nandos. I was so sure she was going to come home. Later on that day, my younger sister and I went back to the hospital. This is when we found out how severe things were and that there was nothing more the doctors could do. They said she had a few hours left to live. My mum went to heaven just after midnight on the 21st of April. Driving home that evening I felt numb and kept wishing i could change so many things. I wrote a song called “Bullet In My Heart” to express my feelings. I wrote the entire song in less than an hour. Till today it’s the fastest song i’ve ever written.

    Why I need your help & support via donations and/or sponsorship;

    I auditioned for X Factor last summer and it was probably the most liberating thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. I laid bare my hurt and pain for the world to see. It was scary and emotional.

    ‘Bullet In My Heart’ received over 1 Million views in 24 hours and has continued to reach over 20 million views on social platforms.

    I am continuously humbled by the support I have received - especially from those who know how it feels to loose a loved one.

    Since the show, I’ve been inspired to open up the conversation about grieving and the effects it has on mental wellbeing.

    Usually people do a run, climb a mountain or host a fundraising event, but I’ve never been good at those things so, as a creative, I decided to produce a short film using my song to highlight how EVERYTHING can change in just one day. I have become an ambassador for a children's bereavement charity, ‘Grief Encounter’ - in the hope that we can contribute to their work of helping others grieve.

    The short film will be titled ‘Bullet In My Heart’ and will be based on a true story on how I went from celebrating life to being trapped in an everlasting nightmare.

    This film aims to comfort those who have lost a loved one yet also serve as a reminder to cherish loved ones and give them flowers whilst they are still here and can smell them.
