Our original message: "WE NEED TO RAISE AT LEAST £3100 FOR DESPERATE PALESTINIAN FAMILIES SUFFERING FOOD POVERTY IN MADAMA AND BURIN." Thanks to the generosity of many donors, we exceeded the original and subsequent targets very quickly, and sent funds totalling double the original target - including external donations - to our partners in Palestine. Working with the village community leaders, they distributed the first tranche of food parcels to the needy families on Boxing Day. They distributed the second tranche in March.

For 16 years, we have been welcomed by families in the West Bank villages of Madama and Burin, when we have travelled to the area as a UN Protective Presence during the annual olive harvest. But sadly, not last year or this year.

Many families in the villages are now suffering from extreme food poverty, as a result of the current war.

Most villagers have lost their jobs, and the olive harvest has been decimated – local extremist settlers have set fire to olive groves, the Israeli army and settlers have violently forced olive farmers off the groves, and settlers have confiscated harvested olives and equipment.

We were originally hoping to raise sufficient funds to provide at least 40 families with food parcels. Thanks to donors' generosity, the first transfer of funds paid for 129 food parcels, which were delivered to families on Boxing Day. We have now raised more than £6800 in total, (including external donations). This means we are able to provide more support to families struggling in the worsening situation. This appeal remains open until March 2025.
