Buster was going to be put to sleep following the previous owners being unable to afford treatment. Being a fit and health Springer cross Labrador, we couldn't let this happen!

Buster has hypertrophic osteodystrophy (Barlow's disease) which causes the deformity of his front leg.

We knew we could not afford the repairs ourselves, so we're turning to the generosity of the public to help this cause.

Our aim and intention is, and was, to prolong his life and give him the best fighting chance at a future.

Although upon first inspection, issues with Buster seem minimal, he is currently showing signs or aching after long walks and will take him a little while to loosen up in the mornings or after rest.

As Buster ages, this will become a lot more severe to the point he will not be able to apply pressure.

We have done all of the referral work ourselves so far including xrays, consultations etc. and have received a quote for the operation to straighten and 'fix' his front leg.

This is in the region of £6000. We are planning in the near future a selection of fund raising events to work our way to this cost and in due course, set up a fund raising page to see that he receives the treatment. The above cost doesn't include what has already been spent or any after care - we are seeing to this.

We're hoping that there are generous people around who understand the situation and would be open to donating to the cause.

Any extra money will be given straight to Dogs Trust.
