I've raised £1500 to fund a memorial bench and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Michael Rodgers

On the 10th November, our beloved mate, Michael Rodgers passed away aged 27. Mike was diagnosed in August 2019 with a Glioblastoma (brain tumour). Throughout the 15 months which followed, Mike showed an unbelievable amount of strength, bravery and unwavering positivity in his fight against cancer. He was a pillar of support to those around him. He leaves a hole in our lives which will never be filled.
Words fail us in trying to describe how we feel. Quite simply, we are heartbroken. However, no matter what life may throw our way; we will always have this friendship.
Whilst we are now at rock bottom, we hope to do something positive. To help us and for the memory of our lovely lad. We are hoping to arrange some form of memorial at Roundhay Park in Leeds – Mike used to say that this was his favourite place. We would also love to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support who provided Mike with excellent care.
To do this, we will each be running 124km during December – the distance between his home in Lincoln and his childhood home in Leeds.
We would be incredibly grateful if you would agree to provide whatever sponsorship you feel you can afford. We appreciate times are hard. However, if nothing else, please consider donating the cost of a pint (#BuyMikeAPint).
Once we have done our run, watch this space for more activities we have in mind to try raise as much as possible.
When you wake up on Christmas Day, we will be out on the road running for Mike. If anyone would like to run along any miles they can, we would love you to join our group on Strava and to run for Mike. Hopefully we can get as many Km and £ as possible! Please do what you can!
