Story

In May 2023, Buzby Allen suffered a devastating basal ganglia stroke.

The outlook was bleak. His chances of survival were incredibly low. But in true Buzby style, he pulled through, defying the odds with the same determination and spirit that has defined him for decades.

For over 40 years, Buzby gave everything to Potters guests and team members. He was more than a familiar face, he was the heartbeat of so many holidays. He brought people together, lifted spirits, and made others feel special. His energy was infectious. His humour unforgettable. And his commitment to making people smile earned him the national title of UK Tourism Superstar.

Now, after four decades of putting others first, Buzby needs our support.

Where Things Stand Now.

The stroke caused serious, lasting damage to Buzby’s brain. Since then, he’s worked hard every day to recover. He’s come a long way through NHS rehab, speech therapy, physiotherapy, support from his amazing friends circle and sheer strength of will.

But the road has been tough 😥

Buzby’s speech remains severely affected, and he still struggles with mobility and daily function. He continues to receive NHS physiotherapy roughly every two weeks, and can keep doing so, but it’s now focused on maintaining his condition, not making further progress.

He’s been told that from a clinical perspective, significant improvement is no longer expected.

Despite all his effort, the path forward through standard treatment has reached its limit.

But Buzby hasn’t stopped hoping. And this new opportunity has already lifted him.

As Lizzie put it, “Even just hoping it will help has made a difference to him, he’s got something to aim for.”

For many, that would be the end of the story. But not for Buzby. And not for Lizzie, his wife and constant support.

They’re not giving up. And neither are we.

The New Hope: NeuroCytonix, Mexico

There’s a new path, one that Buzby is now hoping to take.

A private medical research clinic in Monterrey, Mexico, called NeuroCytonix, offers a non-invasive, experimental programme designed for people with brain injuries and neurological conditions where conventional therapies have reached their limits.

Their 28-day programme, called Functional Neurogenesis Stimulation (FNS), includes:

• Advanced MRI scans to map brain damage and identify underactive regions

• Daily one-hour sessions using low-frequency radio and magnetic waves

• Live MRI guidance to target precise brain areas during treatment

• Non-invasive delivery — no injections, no surgery

The aim is to help the brain form new neural connections. Not to undo the stroke, but to help recover speech, coordination, movement, and balance, by working with what the brain still has.

Is It Guaranteed? No! But There Is Hope.

This treatment is experimental. It hasn’t been approved by the NHS. It isn’t backed by large-scale clinical trials yet. It’s not a cure.

But it has helped others like Chris Kamara, former footballer and Sky Sports presenter. He saw a marked improvement in his speech and balance after undergoing the same treatment. Post-treatment scans showed over 2,000 new neural connections.

There are no promises. But when conventional recovery stops, and someone still has the strength and desire to keep going, hope becomes a path.

And where there’s hope, we tread that path with him.

The Cost

The full cost of the treatment, including the programme itself, travel, accommodation, and support, is just over £30,000 and that’s what we need to raise, together, to give Buzby the best possible chance at a better quality of life.

Why It Matters

Buzby will never be exactly the same again. He knows that. We all do.

But this treatment could give him:

• More words

• More movement

• More independence

• More of himself back

He has spent a lifetime giving to others. Now it’s our turn.

Please donate if you can. And if you can’t, please share this page with someone who can. Every donation, every share, every message of support helps.

Let’s do this for Buz.

P.S. The plan is for the treatment to take place in January 2026 but if we’re not able to raise enough for the treatment, or if Buzby’s health means he can’t travel, or any other complications arise, every penny raised will still go directly towards helping Buzby live a better life, whether that’s for care, support, equipment or anything else he needs. We also know this may not work but we have to give everything a try to give Buzby the best outcome humanely possible. x
