Story
Ballyrobert is a small, rural village within Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council (ANBC) area. The village core developed at the junction of Mossley Road, The Longshot and Ballyrobert Road and is located approximately 3 miles south of Ballyclare and 3.5 miles north west of Glengormley.
The village consists of Thompson Primary School, a small convenience shop with integrated post office and petrol pumps, a Mission Hall and an Orange Hall. Despite the small village core, there are a number of businesses on the outskirts of the village including Jigsaw Day Nursery, Ballyrobert Cottage Garden and Nursery, Barnaby’s Restaurant and Greenacres Golf Centre.
The committee works tirelessly for the betterment of the Village. Each year they hold a number of events for Village residents and this includes highlights such as the Christmas light switch-on and the Summer Festival held in June each year.
We are seeking support in relation to a number of key projects including:
1. The erection of a Bus Shelter on the Ballyrobert Road to protect the school children who wait for the school buses to Ballyclare every morning. At present they are not only dangerously close to the traffic but required to stand by the bus stop in all weather with no shelter.
2. Future development of a play park for the young families in Ballyrobert. We are seeking support to undertake initial investigations into the possibility of establishing a play park in Ballyrobert.
