Story
Change of plans:
For those who have donated already, and those who would like to donate, the original plans to handcycle across Southern Africa have had to change as our support team/tour company have, basically, run off with our money.
Not one to ever be kept down for long, I have decided to embark on a different adventure where I will cycle a route which takes in as many of the Scottish islands as I can. This is a very different adventure but one that I am super excited about as it will give me the chance to get to know my home country so much better, and on three wheels!
I still plan to undertake this adventure in April/May and will update soon with more information on the route I will be taking.
Thank you again o everyone for your support, donations and encouragement and I look forward to sharing the new plans with you very soon.
Neil

About me:
I have Spina-Bifida and had a below knee amputation when I was 18. I use a wheelchair on a daily-basis and neither of these things are who I am. They are aspects of my daily life and always will be, but I am inherently an adventurous person who likes to push myself to see what I am capable of. I returned to university 4 years ago and graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an MA in education and focused my research on Outdoor Education and the Inclusion of Disabled Participants. After graduation I moved from Scotland to West Yorkshire where I work for an organisation called Experience Community (www.experiencecommunity.co.uk) and we facilitate disabled people into getting outdoors and enjoying nature. Handcycling has been a passion of mine for the last 7 years and has always taken me to places I could otherwise never have been able to get to and is now going to allow me to have the adventure of a lifetime.
