Story

Andy suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in June 2018. Since then, he has undergone a long but sustained period of slow recovery and rehabilitation. Thanks to the herculean support and efforts of his wife, Sharon, he has made slow but steady progress to reach a stable level of health and communication. However, his main challenge is to raise his level of consciousness.

Andy attends an amazing Neuro Physio Clinic called ‘Morrello’ in Newport where he is lucky enough to be able to use the latest technology. We, and other Patient’s families, are raising money to allow Morello to hire this equipment, ensuring all that benefit from this continue to do so. The latest technology in neuro-physio rehabilitation stimulates consciousness by generating physical experiences. The Exoskeleton (‘ExoMotus M4 gait robot’) is used to help patients to relearn walking. It also provides TBI patients with the experience of walking again, and for Andy, this stimulates him to reach a higher level of consciousness. This higher level of consciousness is part of his long-term recovery and rehabilitation plan. See Andy in action using the equipment at this link: https://youtu.be/QY8O0rgJgPA

Our challenge is to raise £5,000.00, which we hope you will support. We will be completing two laps of the 2 Squadron RAF Regiment ‘Eagle House 10-mile Tab’ (20 miles in total) near Colerne in Wiltshire with Andy who we will pulling in his Wheelchair. Andy was a Flight Commander on 2 Squadron in the late 80s and early 90s and loved the physical nature of the Squadron’s ‘Airborne’ ethos. The ‘Tab’ will be familiar to all members of 2 Squadron who served during its time based at Colerne, where Andy and Sharon now live, and Hullavington and includes the infamous ‘short mile’ which is just part of the very hilly terrain on the course.

Your support is truly appreciated. Thank you.
