Story
Will Maydon & I (Charlie McGrath) will be driving a van to Kyiv in August – hopefully rammed full of rehabilitation equipment. We will be gifting the van and returning by train, personally funding all travel costs.
We plan to raise up to £15,000 to buy rehabilitation equipment in support of a Ukrainian charity, The Mercy and Health Foundation based in Kyiv. The Foundation has one rehabilitation centre in Kyiv treating 20 mentally and physically injured patients a day and is opening another significantly larger centre in the next few months. Lead by Dr Oleksandr Yatsyna, the new centre will care for up to 200 patients per day. Ukraine is in urgent need of help. Russian attacks on the civilian population have increased dramatically in the last month and it is assessed that over 48,000 civilians and veterans have lost limbs. The mental scars across the population are too enormous to document at this stage.
This is Charlie's fifth humanitarian trip to Ukraine. Previous trips have delivered rehabilitation equipment to the Mercy & Health Foundation and to other Kyiv based hospitals. Any funds raised will be used to subsidise the running costs of the support services provided by the Foundation.
Please do consider gifting to this important cause. The image below shows wounded veterans at The Mercy and Health Foundation's rehabilitation centre in Kyiv.
