Story

This year it is a 100 years since the end of the first world war. We should never forget the ultimate sacrifice that many made during that war, the second world war and other conflicts since.Caister is one of the few villages that does not have an external war memorial for those from our village who have fallen in conflict.

So we plan to put this right and build Caisters first war memorial to conicide with the 100th anniversary of the signing of the treaty of Versailles on June 28th 1919 the official end to World war one. We have the support of many community groups in the village and we are involving all the schools in the village in the project, we feel it is important that the younger generations remember the sacrifies made by those Caister men and women and what war means. We must never forget. We have already raised a considerable amount from the collection at the Carnival and the Parish council have also supported the fund. Please help us reach our target thank you.
