Story
Later this month, I'm going to join the Help Refugees team for 4 weeks volunteering at the refugee camp in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece.
There are currently around 16,000 refugees living in inadequate conditions there and as the bitter winter begins they need help more than ever to supply aid and run the warehouses that supply the 23 camps in the surrounding area.
As our government turns it's back on the migrant crisis it is our duty to show them that we care. Across the globe there is a worrying trend towards a form of politics that both neglects and at times vilifies those that are fleeing war and persecution in their country of origin. We may not be able to control this, but we can use our most basic human instinct - compassion - to help those in need whom have been failed by the state.
No more than £300 of the money I raise will be used towards my travel and accommodation. The primary purpose of this page is towards a donation to the warehouse which upholds the aid giving at the refugee camps.
Help me contribute to a cause that proves that the kindness of strangers is a bigger force to be reckoned with than the rise of anti-immigrant, neo-fascist governments. Many of us feel helpless at the moment, but we don't have to be.
WHY I'M DOING THIS
From a personal perspective I've decided that complaining about Brexit, Trump etc on Facebook to your own online 'bubble' isn't productive. I'm lucky enough to have some time out from the working world right now, so I've decided to be proactive and make a difference.

Surprised and delighted you're doing this! If it makes even a little difference to these poor people it will be worth it. Xx
