Story
For those of you who don't know, on the 8th of February 2018 my beautiful niece Indi was born in Bristol Royal Hospital for children in the Paediatrics Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with a condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. A congenital heart condition that affects 1 in 5000 babies every year. When Indi was just 6 days old she had her first open heart surgery, the first of 3 pre planned operations she would be required to have. The operation went well and after 7 weeks in PICU she was able to come home for the first time. However with very little time spent home together as a family, 2 months later- at the start of June Indi had to return to hospital to have her second planned operation. Unfortunately Indi has been in PICU ever since and is now 7 months old. She has had many complications along the way, requiring her to endure multiple procedures and operations during her stay. During her stay the nurses/surgeons and all practitioners have been wonderful, they have not only cared for Indi but also looked after my brother, sister In law and second niece Daniella brilliantly.
Therefore I have decided to run the Swansea Bay 10k on the 16th of September, in the hope of giving something back to the PICU ward that has done such a wonderful job of looking after all the family. Any donations would be much appreciated.
Thank you x
