Story

Okay so.. I am hoping to raise some money towards paying for my boyfriends travel insurance and alternative treatments, here is his story..

Phil is 42, he has a 17 year old son and was diagnosed with a brain tumour (grade 3 Oligodendroglioma) in April last year, it was confirmed cancerous a few weeks later after an intese 4/5 hour surgery in attempt to remove it or as much of it as possible. We were told they couldnt remove it all due to where it was but were offered other treatments.. He has been through 1 load of chemotherapy and maximum dose of radiotherapy and we thought it was getting better or at least thought we were keeping it at bay but recent test results show that it has already started growing again and he has had to start a new chemotherapy.. we have also been told that this is his last option for treatment as surgery is too dangerous, he has had the maximum radiation dose and there aren't many chemotherapies that will work on the brain due to the blood-brain barrier.

Unfortunately this tumor has left Phil unable to work and struggling to do some of the daily activities of living. His friends have planned and booked for them all to go to Amsterdam for a weekend break on the 22nd september his doctor has also agreed to the holiday and has even suggested deffering his next round of chemotherapy until after so he feels a bit better. I have spent weeks trying to find some travel insurance to cover medical costs incase he becomes unwell during the trip for example the flight may cause some issues from the pressure or he could catch an infection from somebody whilst away.

So far travel insurance companies have quotes us between £1000-£2500 for the 3 day break and im afraid we won't have the money to cover the costs. Phil is coming to the worrying conclusion that he will have to cancel his holiday altogether but i dint want that to happen. We all need to experience a girls/guys holiday at least once in our lives and this may be his last chance, if anybody could help us out and donate something even if its a small amount I would appreicate it great itand I know he would too, if you cant donate please share with friends and family.

(He currently has no idea I am doing this and I would like it to be a surprise. so if you know phil please dont tell him ☺️)

UPDATE: latest MRI results show that the current treatment (Temozolomide) hasnt worked and his tumour has got even bigger.. the doctor suggested he trys a new Chemo (cant remember the name) which hasnt been used that often but its worth a try.

Phil says 'if they offered me a pint of petrol and told me it would work then I would drink it'

he knows that anything is worth trying if it means he can get better.
