Story

In just a few months time I will be flying to the other side of the world to complete a month-long Volunteering project in Fiji ran by Think Pacific.

Think Pacific is an amazing organisation who are entirely devoted to improving the lives of Fijians - helping them as much as possible and allowing a cultural exchange to happen between ourselves and the locals.

The project I will be completing involves me living as a rural Fijian villager does, I will stay with my 'Fijian family'; mum, dad, siblings etc and immerse myself into their way of life! This will undoubtably be extremely challenging for me!

As well as this, and more importantly, I will be tutoring in the local school to help raise educational standards. Fiji has a literacy rate of under 35%, so it is vital that we provide this support in order that children can learn to simply read and write - skills that the majority of us really take for granted. I will also be part of helping the children learn more about sports, music, drama etc. These are extremely valuable experiences for the children and will, no doubt, put a smile on their faces.

I am so excited to start this adventure in June, but there are obviously some associated costs to get me out there, to be able to deliver this government-backed programme in rural Fiji. Any donations of any size that you could give would help me towards the project fee, flights, equipment such as mosquito nets etc. This would massively help me help the children and people of Fiji.

I have attached a video explaining and showing footage of the project, and if you would like to read more you can visit the Think Pacific website.

Thank you x
