Story

Support Chic Art Initiative Uganda (CAIU)

Help us build a headquarters for trans-led change in Fort Portal, Uganda

Led by Executive Director Shilah Morgana, Chic Art Initiative Uganda (CAIU) is a registered, trans-led feminist organization based in the western region of Uganda, in Fort Portal. We're raising $2,500 (€3,000) to equip our office headquarters and give our team the tools we need to keep serving our community.

Our Mission

CAIU is dedicated to empowering marginalised communities - particularly trans women and youth - through art-based economic inclusion, sustainable micro-agriculture, health advocacy, and leadership development. Our work centres on four pillars: art-based economic empowerment, SRHR and HIV advocacy, mental health support, and feminist leadership. Through community outreach, emergency protection, and vocational training, we help marginalised groups build dignified, sustainable livelihoods.

What We're Trying to Achieve

We want to build sustainable livelihoods and safe spaces where trans and marginalised youth can thrive economically, access healthcare rights, and gain financial independence - free from fear or stigma. That means creating real pathways to income through art and craft, connecting people to health and wellbeing support, and cultivating the next generation of feminist leaders in our community.

Where We Are Now

CAIU is a registered organisation currently scaling up its operations. As of August 2026, our team is prioritising institutional governance and strategic network alignment - strengthening our internal structures, securing physical office infrastructure, and formalising our community outreach programs so we can grow responsibly and sustainably.

How Your Donation Will Help

Your contribution goes directly toward equipping our office headquarters with the essentials we need to operate effectively:

• Laptops for staff and program administration

• Administrative supplies to run day-to-day operations

• Internet connectivity to stay connected with partners, funders, and our community

• Branding materials to strengthen our visibility and credibility

With a functioning office in place, our team will be able to run programs more effectively, pursue and secure grants, and serve our community with greater consistency and reach.

Why It Matters

Every dollar brings us closer to a stable home base - one that lets a trans-led organisation keep doing the work of protecting, empowering, and uplifting marginalised communities in Fort Portal and beyond.

Help us reach our £2,500 goal today.
