Story

CAN YOU HELP?

Calderdale GPs for scrubs and material and postage.

We need help raising funds, our NHS needs you!!

We are a member of a large group of people willing to sew medical scrubs for our GPs in Calderdale that are in desperate need we are willing to sew them and many of us are buying the fabric ourselves.

As we all know, things are difficult for a lot of people throughout the UK financially. We are overwhelmed that so many people want to help but don't have the finances to buy the materials. We would love to be able to put together 'kits' to enable members to join in and produce the Scrubs our Doctors & Nurses need. Many local NHS GPs centres need them as they help conquer Covid-19.

We are hoping to raise money so we can buy the fabric and supplies and distribute it in a kit to the people that are willing to help. We need to cover the cost of the materials and the cost of postage and packaging.

How donations will be used

Any funds raised will be used to purchase appropriate materials.

Navy and black poly cotton suitable for scrubs, appropriate thread and other materials required to ensure these are safe and efficient for working in an NHS setting.

These will be donated to any NHS team who requires them.

Thank you for everyone who has offered their time, their sewing machines and skills to assist with our bid!

UPDATE

We want to say a big thank you, we have managed to buy fabric and put kits together for our sewers. We couldn't of done this without your help.

We are all very busy sewing and every contribution helps us get more fabric to sewers and more scrubs to the NHS thank you again for all your help to make this possible. There are so many NHS staff in need of scrubs and we are willing to sew them, We just need the fabric to do it, which costs so please share or if you want to just donate the fabric please contact myself.

Want to say another thank you to Will Menzies and Dr Kate Simpson for their help in getting the medical scrubs to who needs them.

Update - Letter from GPs in Calderdale 01/05/2020

To: For The Love of Scrubs Makers!

We have received three large deliveries of a range of scrubs in many different sizes, colours and patterns from your local co-ordinator Georgina. There are blue scrubs, green scrubs, scrubs made from lovely patterns and rainbows. All of them have been made with love and care by the cohort of makers out there, some have even been embroidered with lovely messages. Some have pocket sized messages of support including a full size range of scrubs that had a fabric gingerbread man in the pocket!

So far, the donations have been distributed to the North Halifax Primary Care Network on of 5 in Calderdale who make up all the practices in Halifax and the surrounding areas. The networks include groups of GPs, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Paramedics, Advanced Practitioners and support staff are seeing patients face to face.

So far, clinicians who all normally work at Beechwood Medical Centre, Caritas Group Practice, Keighley Road Surgery, Lister Lane Surgery and Plane Trees Group Practice have received scrubs.

There are many more to distribute and early next week, deliveries will be made to Calder and Ryburn, Central, Lower and Upper Calder Valley Primary Care Networks. This means that all primary care clinicians in Calderdale will have the opportunity to wear one of the scrubs sets made by For the Love of Scrubs makers.

The huge kindness of these makers is a great way of letting NHS staff know that we are all behind them and thinking of them at this uncertain time for us all.

Thank you so much for your time, effort, fabrics, love and patience in creating them for us whilst you are staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives.

Kind regards

On behalf of GP practices in Calderdale

Thank you to For The Love Of Scrubs- Our NHS Needs You and all the members that are busy sewing and donating there time!
