Story
In the UK, men are three times more likely than women to die by suicide, accounting for 75% of all suicides. Shockingly, 12.5% of men are suffering from a common mental health disorder, but societal pressures often prevent them from seeking help. Every day, an average of 12 men take their own lives in the UK.
I’m running the length of Britain, from John O'Groats to Land's End, to raise awareness and funds for men's mental health. This 874-mile journey represents the struggle many men face daily. Despite mental health issues being prevalent, men are far less likely to access psychological therapies than women, with only 36% of referrals being men.
The stigma surrounding men's mental health is a barrier we need to break. 34% of men either don’t talk about their feelings or only do so once a week. This silence can be deadly. By undertaking this challenge, I aim to shine a light on these issues and encourage men to speak up and seek the help they need.
Your support will fund crucial mental health services, research, and awareness campaigns. Together, we can change the narrative and ensure no man suffers in silence. Join me in this journey, and let's make a difference, one step at a time.
