I've raised £4000 to go to the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA in 2019.

Scouting has always has been a part of my life. I started going along to Beavers when I was 6yrs old and progressed through Cubs to Scouts. I am very proud to be the 4th generation of my family to be part of the Scouting movement and follow my Great Uncle to an international event. Throughout my life in scouting I have become more confident at things. Last year I successfully helped in the campaign for an Explorer group to start in Moffat and became one of the group's founding members in January 2018.
Last August, I heard about the World Scout Jamboree and as I am very adventurous I got very excited and filled in a long application to say that I was interested. I got invited to go to a selection weekend at Culzean Castle where they assessed all the applicants. When I got the news that I had been selected as one of the 750 out of 450 000 scouts in the UK to go to the Jamboree I was over the moon about it! Before we head out to America, there will be a number of camps and get-togethers with scouts from the regional unit and from all over Scotland.
This camp has lot of benefits for me because I get to have the chance to meet new friends, who could end up being life long friends. It will also benefit my local community when I come back. I will be able to tell my scout/explorer unit about what happened and teach them new games from around the world.
Part of the money I raise will go towards paying for another scout, from a developing country to attend the event too!

The West Highland Way stretches 96 miles from Milngavie to Fort William and climbs over 14,000ft. I plan to walk this with my Mum in July and we will be camping on route. We hope to do this in 7 days, but it might take a couple of days longer if (when!) our legs and feet suffer. Watch out for my updates!
