Story

Inspired by the unbelievable work ethic, tenacity and talent of my daughter Rosie and her squad mates and coaches at Abingdon Gymnastics Club, I'm dusting down the triathlon gear and aim to complete Woburn 70.3 (Half Iron Man) Triathlon. My objective is to raise funds for the squad to travel to the USA in 2020, where they will train and compete with eminent US gymnasts, and explore college opportunities.
Abingdon squad gymnasts train for 25 hours per week. Over the last few years the club has produced a range of county, regional and national champions, competing at national level and in the English, Scottish and British Championships. This year Rosie represented Scotland in the Home Nations championships.
The squad will travel to the Georgia to learn about opportunities within the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) and will compete and train in Boston. The estimated cost for the gymnasts and their coaches is ~ £20,000 GBP.
Abingdon Gymnastics Club is a non-profit organisation and home to one of the only purpose built facilities for gymnastics in Oxfordshire. Open 50 weeks a year, the club has over 750 members with another 500 on a waiting list, which grows every day. The club offer recreational gymnastics classes to all ages from pre-school right through to adults.
