Story
Hello, I'm Lauren
I volunteered for one month in this orphanage in Cambodia back in January. The children are amazing! They are so happy and full of character. Visal and his wife Kate, who run this orphanage, do it with love and care. Given the poverty of Cambodia, these children all live a very simplistic and basic lifestyle and do not have access to many resources. The beautiful thing about these children is that they never ask or expect to be given anything. They are so shocked and utterly thankful when anything, however small, comes their way.The children are so eager to learn and they particularly love learning English. They have big ambitions just like any child and they want to become professions like doctors and teachers. The orphanage relies heavily on the volunteers that come to teach the children English and to play games with them.
The sad thing is that this orphanage cannot host anymore volunteers. The charity that supply this orphanage with volunteers have deemed the living standards to be too low and require an indoor bathroom to be built. I wish to raise enough money for the necessary bathroom so that they can start hosting volunteers once more and an additional amount for resources to aid the children's learning. I want these children to have the best start in life, the start they deserve. With the money raised the orphanage can buy resources to help the children learn English. They can buy laptops to aid the children technical skills. They can buy arts and crafts to allow the children to be creative as this is not seen as important in schools in Cambodia. They can buy books to get the children interested in reading. They could also provide the children with new clothes as most of them only have a couple of different things to wear.
Any little amount you can give will be aid them in a great way and will be so gratefully received and forever appreciated.
From myself and all of the children, thank you!
