Story

A Parklet is a car parking space that is converted into a community space for something more environment or community focused such as bike racks, seating areas, or green space. We believe an increase in Parklets on our streets will result in increased active travel, a greater reduction in vehicle emissions, benefits to local businesses, and increased space that is there for the community to enjoy. We are aiming to increase the number of Parklets in the Borough.

We are working with Camden Council to design and install a trial Parklet. This will be in place for 6 months, and if successful, lead to the development of the Camden Parklet Scheme. This trial Parklet will be located on Antrim Road in Belsize Park and will include a seating area, a bike rack, and green space.

We have recently passed Public Consultation and are now developing detailed design drawings and an Installation Method Statement. Once this gets approved, we hope to install the Parklet before the end of the summer.

This community parklet has relied on the support of local businesses and people so far. The beautiful designs were created by Levene Landscapes, based on the suggestions of local residents. Doing R Bit will build and install the Parklet for us, using a range of sustainably sourced materials, looking to Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle and Re-Balance their impact on the environment throughout all of their processes. The final stage is raising the funds to pay for the Parklet.

Help us build one of Camden's first Parklets!
