⭐️Be a part of the jazz renaissance!! ⭐️

I'm raising money for a creative project that shines a light on the rich musical legacy of jazz!

In celebration of the 110th birthday of the legendary jazz vocalist Billie Holiday this year, I'm recording and releasing a 3-track EP that reinterprets some of her lesser-known early works, breathing new life into them.

🎙️Billie Holiday was a jazz icon whose vocal style exuded magnetism and authenticity. Her distinctive approach to lyric delivery and improvisation has strongly influenced my own artistry. My hope is that this project not only highlights the incredible talents of the musicians involved but also sparks interest among listeners to delve into Billie's vast discography and appreciate the legacy of this extraordinary artist. 🎙️

The EP will feature some of the UK's most talented young jazz musicians and will be available on major streaming platforms, for digital download, and in a limited edition on 12" vinyl. Additionally, the music will be complemented by live session video footage of the tracks. 📹

🙃SO... WHY AM I ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT? 🧐

That's a great question! The truth is, funding the recording and release of a music project can be quite costly! Especially when the goal is to ensure fair compensation for everyone involved and to deliver the highest quality possible (which is my commitment). 💕

💰In addition to the obvious costs of studio time, musician and engineer fees, and videography and editing expenses, there are also costs related to the release itself. This includes obtaining the necessary licenses for the pre-existing compositions, distribution fees (to get the music on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music), and the production costs for vinyl, which can be significant.

The high cost of creating music is something that many artists shy away from discussing, as most create out of passion and love. However, it can be incredibly challenging, especially for emerging artists without sponsorships or label support. As you may know, unless artists can generate revenue through merchandise or live performances, the financial sustainability of their music can be quite difficult. 💰

I am primarily funding this project myself, supplemented by a grant from Help Musicians, pending their approval of my proposal. After researching cost-effective solutions, I estimate that the total expense for this project will exceed £3,000.😅
