    Story

Diagnosed with cancer in January 2018. I continued working until the treatment and loss of weight became obvious to my long time employer who did provide some benefit payments which helped but was discontinued in April. Today, I am now cancer free, have been able to keep my home and life together with the use of my savings which has now dwindled to nothing. I then discovered I was eligible for universal Credit and was made eligible on 11 May with a 5 week assessment period which would have made things hard as it was. Having a private landlord who has been most understanding over the last several months has been very helpful and has even let me go two months into arrears in the past.

Universal Credit has some very gaps of problems primarily communication however did provide an advance to pay my June and portion of July rent as I had the last of all my money also which I combined with that loan to keep me up to date.

As of today, Universal credit made several mistakes, closed my previous claim and re opened a new one as they finally realized the mistake they made. But in doing so instead of filing a reclaim they re filed a new claim which took the assessment period into another five weeks to what is now the 7th of September. My landlord despite being very understanding will no longer take any kind of late payment and will serve me with possession order by Thursday if I do not pay the amount. I have explained and escalated this issue to Universal Credit who has said I should go to Citizens advice not realizing that my landlord is not the problem, Universal Credits failure to see that I will become a larger burden on the system, myself and ultimately the taxpayers by what will now cause me to be homeless. They have already put me in debt by my eligible amount that I will be paid of £1400 per month while actively looking for new employment as my previous employer was sold to another company closed the business.

I do not want this money to be given but rather loaned against the upcoming payment due to be paid on the 6th of September. I knew this was a problem on the 18th of July and was told UC would be giving me another loan due to be paid out on the 27th of July. This was with the previous assessment period claim they closed and re-opened by no mistake of my own. Had I know this I would have done something about this weeks ago but have put me in this position. I have filed a complaint but nothing will happen in time for me to where my life will have changed despite having survived a horrible health problem. This will be paid back directly to whomever can assist me with proof that rather than the UC payment directed to me on the 6th of September but to the beneficiary of who can help.

I have all the documentation to support and prove my case
