I've raised £500 to help us purchase kit & other resources which support our volunteers in initiatives to improve our community for the people who live in it!

Fed up with the litter on our streets, earlier this year a handful of Pontcanna & Canton residents got together to set about changing things. As a result Canna Collective community group was formed. Six months on, and around 20-30 local volunteers turn up every month to take part in our community litter picks, we also have around 20+ street litter champions who are responsible for their own street and chivvying their neighbours. Sadly, we have to borrow the litter picking kit from Keep Wales Tidy and we would love to be able to purchase our own kit for community volunteers to be able to keep our neighbourhood clean more regularly. Our goal is to improve our community for all who live in it! We don't intend to be defined by litter alone, but its a starting point for bringing people together to address a common problem and see quick and tangible results to demonstrate the small, yet great, things you can achieve when you come together! We wish to work with local businesses and residents to collectively improve our community and engender a real sense of care, compassion and respect for our neighbour and environment. To develop other initiatives such as caring for our elderly and vulnerable neighbours, educating young people and engaging schools, but to do so we need to raise funds so that we can promote our cause, purchase litter picking kit and tabards, get material printed, create a website, and increase local awareness of the work we do so that the whole community gets involved!
