Story
A year and a month ago, Chris Cantrell was diagnosed with Stage 4 Stomach Cancer. After a gruesome and brave battle, Chris aged 37 has just been given days to live. This Go Fund Me campaign is to help raise money for the family he will so heartbreakingly leave behind.
Chris, a US citizen, was flown to Mass General Hospital for emergency diagnosis and treatment last June after collapsing at his job in the Bahamas. His wife Alice who is British and their two year old son Charlie immediately flew to be with Chris. Little did they know back then what the following year would hold and that Massachusetts and primarily MGH, would turn out to be their home. In the past year, not knowing a soul in Massachusetts, the family have had to move house three times, Charlie has learnt to sleep pretty much anywhere and they have had to deal with the vicious and distressing challenges cancer chose to throw at them – all far away from family and friends.
Unfortunately, Chris does not have any life insurance. All their savings have been consumed over the past year as neither one has been able to work. They do not own a home. Alice is not a US Citizen and her Green Card Application is taking forever so she is therefore unable to work or claim any benefits to support her and Charlie.
Alice and Charlie’s exact plans are not confirmed. This young family’s future looks so very different to the excitement and endless possibilities they looked forward to only 13 months ago. And what the next few weeks will bring to them is unimaginable.
Please please please donate to this campaign. This frightening financial situation is adding gargantuan amounts of stress to an already unbearable situation.
Thank you for reading this. Thank you in advance for your donation.

7 years agoI cannot thank you all enough for your massive generosity and kind words for Alice and Charlie. We have reached 95% of our goal - it would be fantastic to continue on past it! Chris will be laid to rest tonight at 6pm at the Sanctuary in Marshfield, Massachusetts: sanctuarymarshfield.org and a simultaneous Memorial Service on the island in the Bahamas where Chris worked. I am sure I speak for us all sending love, prayers and strength to Alice, Charlie and family for today and the future. Rest in Peace Chris, you will never be forgotten.
