Just before Christmas 2022 one of our rowers had a cardiac arrest when rowing in a gig boat at sea. He was given heart massage in the gig boat and defibrillated by paramedics on shore. He survived and is now fit and well and back with his family. The club now want to train other club members to perform resuscitation and to equip ourselves with a defibrillator and other essential first aid and safety equipment. And we want to share our learning with other gig clubs and the wider public. We are a small club on a very tight budget yet we give everyone in the West Cornwall area the opportunity to row in a gig boat.
