Since I was a child I have always had a dream to visit and meet the people of Cape Verde. Last year my dream came true and I visited the beautiful island of Sal. Whilst there, I took an Island tour and saw for myself the poor living conditions of the adorable children in the shanty towns. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lack of tourists visiting, I decided that I would organise an event to raise money and help the families. The children especially have been affected as they rely on the tourists for donations of school pens, paper, books, food and small gifts. I am hoping that this year I will be able to revisit in September if travel lockdown is lifted and spend more time with the children and their families.
