Story
Hereford2Hereford4Hereford
Our Rowing club in Hereford is a community, recreational and sporting hub for our city with 1000's of Herefordians each year using our facility not just for rowing and kayaking, but also for weddings, parties, camping and other functions.
We have closed our club during the Covid lockdown BUT we want to do something to support our city and bring Herefordians together in healthy way and to raise some funds for very worthwhile causes.
We are collectively exercising our way from Hereford (UK) to Hereford (US), a distance of 7,623km Starting on the 30th April , and culminating on the 31st May - The day we should have been hosting our Hereford Regatta.
Our Target is to raise at least £1 per km made.....a total of £7623.
We've decided to raise funds for two causes:
1. Hereford NHS workers. Many of our members work in the NHS, some have contracted Covid, but thankfully have fully recovered. For the rest of us in Hereford, we are just in awe of their bravery and service to all.
2. Hereford Rowing Club. Most of you know we've had a tough time this year - We've had two of the biggest floods in Hereford history, causing £10'000s of damage and now Covid has reduced our income to zero. We want to be in a position to open the club rapidly at the end of the lockdown, and serve our community proudly.
To be as inclusive as possible, we will record metres made from any physical activity - Indoor rowing, cycling, running, walking etc. Our Hereford rowing club members and families have committed to this challenge, but we welcome anyone else to join the cause (Exercising or fundraising) for the month of May.
