Story

We need you!

After last years success on Lady of Stavoren, Over the Pond Productions has now gained a place to produce I Capuleti e I Montecchi at Grimeborn Festival in London, 2019.

Producing opera costs a lot of money and to make this happen we will need to raise £5500. This money will be used to pay for a professional cast, a creative team, rehearsal space, set, props, costumes etc. The production has already got a fantastic creative team on board, existing out of Musical Director Kelvin Lim , Director Lysanne van Overbeek and Movement Director Michael Spenceley .

Why this piece?

I Capuleti e I Montecchi is an Italian Opera in two acts, composed by Vincenzo Bellini with the libretto by Felice Romani. Rather than Shakespeare's version, this opera is based on Guilietta e Romeo, a play by Luigi Scevola. It tells the story of our two beloved star crossed lovers in the midst of a war between two factions. With a cast of only five, incredible music and a beautiful venue, this opera promises to be an intense rollercoaster, making you disappear in the world of Romeo and her Juliet. This fantastic opera does not get performed that often and we believe this is the right time and place for it.

Our production will be performed for 3 nights, between the 2nd and 4th September at the Arcola Theatre, London.

All the money raised will go into creating this wonderful opera. It is incredibly important to us to pay all the people who are involved properly and we cannot do it without your help. So please, every penny counts, donate today!

Best wishes,

Lysanne van Overbeek and Michael Spenceley
