Story
The Television Workshop provides training for stage and screen, but it also provides much more than that. Its a circle of friends, a network of trust, an encouragement of confidence, a place for life lessons, and a family. I was lucky enough to attend the workshop from the age of 7, and during my time there, the training provided was free, as there was funding available from both the BBC and ITV. Since the financial crisis, those companies have withdrawn their funding, meaning students now have to pay to attend. However, The Workshop has always prided itself on being accessible for all those children with talent. Therefore, its now a registered charity, and various alumni and other contributors pay towards bursaries to ensure The Workshop's principle of 'talent over finance' can remain strong and in place.
I am running a 5K Obstacle race, called The Rough Runner in October, and want to raise £330, which would pay for one less fortunate child to attend The Workshop for a whole year.
