Story

Hello!

I am currently in my second year studying Adult Nursing at Kings College London University. As part of my journey of becoming a nurse I am given the oppurtunity to complete a placement over seas. I have chosen to travel to Kathmandu! I will be spending 3 weeks in the university teaching hopsital across acident and emergency and the maternity unit. As well as 1 week in a rurual village providing healthcare within my remit of knowledge. I will learn new skills from the health professionals I work with and I will also be able to teach new skills to professionals and patients that I will meet. I will be leaving supplies that will benefit both provisions where suitable to support local health care and hygeine.

I have chosen to work with a company called Work The World, who provide healthcare students with the opportunity to experience the challenges of health care delivery in a country with minimal resources. The money I will pay to Work The World then gets redistributed back into the local communities and hospitals to support their healthcare system.

As you can imagine all of this comes at a cost. I need to raise money to pay for my flights, accommodation and vaccinations for the trip. I also aim to raise money for resources such as medical supplies, books, clothes and toys for the local community.

In the UK we are very fortunate with the health care we receive and the resources the NHS have. In Nepal peope are not so fortunate, lots of diseases and injuries go untreated due to lack of resources and cost.

This is my opportunity to give back!! Please help me to fund this amazing oppurtunity!

Thank You, Cara!!
