Story

On the 2nd of October 2017 our beautiful and high-spirited 15 month old daughter Cara was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma. It was a cancer we knew very little about and our world was shattered by the news that this was a life threatening disease that accounts for the highest number of deaths within childhood cancers.

We went on to discover that Cara‘s treatment would be incredibly hard-hitting and invasive and that funding for some elements of the treatment was uncertain. We were so very grateful to discover recently that the NHS will now fund immunotherapy for Cara and other children in the UK with high-risk Neuroblastoma. It’s a massive weight off our shoulders to know that she will now receive this cutting edge therapy that is readily available for children in Europe and the USA.

Neuroblastoma is a very rare disease affecting just 100 children a year in the UK and whilst Cara is now receiving a fantastic level of care here in Newcastle there are other ground-breaking treatments available in America that prevent it from returning. We continue to fundraise in the hope that we will do everything possible to get our daughter through this terrible disease. Any of the money raised that isn‘t required for Cara’s treatment will be donated to Neuroblastoma UK.
