There are a vast amount of low paid employees trapped within the kitchen industry who feel that they are unable to do anything else as cooking and catering work is all they know
Being trapped like this will lower a persons self-esteem and confine them to a life of unhappiness at work.
We want to change that. everybody deserves a chance.
Recently a friend and myself were given the opportunity to change our lives by switching careers. between us we had spent in excess of 50 years in the kitchen and it had taken its toll on health, family, and personal well-being, but like many we felt this is all we know. A grand and kind old gentleman changed our minds one day and gave us employment with him.
We went from 18 hours a day six/seven days a week down to 8 hours working just 5 days on slightly better pay. OK were not going to get rich anytime soon but that’s not the point, where not killing ourselves, where spending quality time with the family and getting a decent amount of downtime. We now can have better health, go to birthdays and special occasions have family holidays and obtain a real work life balance.
Our Boss has always taken on people like us from all different trades but mainly hospitality because, as he says ” life isn’t about hard graft and nose to the grindstone, earning a pittance and making ends meet, it’s about earning for the loved ones and spending time with them. work hard on life, don’t be chained to earning for the man.”
He’s a top old gent with a heart of gold and head full off wisdom.
And that’s leads us here. We need to help at least some of those people still trapped like we were, you see, hopefully the ones we help will then go on to help others and the domino effect will begin.
