In February 2017 I flew out to Greece to volunteer in the Syrian Refugee camps to work with Health Point Foundation. A grassroots foundation that was set up only a year ago by some uni friends who, despite all having full time jobs, desperately felt compelled to try and provide emergency care, where they saw a massive gap in the refugee crisis.

Through donations of supplies and equipment they started travelling out to the refugee camps, which are spread far and wide, with their cars loaded up with as much portable equipment as they could fit.

I am trying to raise funds to provide HPF with another portable dental drill unit. Unfortunately HPF had two drill units but one unit has broken and is unrepairable. This means the when travelling out, to help people in camps, care is slow and more limited, as we attempt to queue people for the use of one drill unit and heart-breakingly have to leave much untreated.

These people have been through such unimaginable trauma, that as i am writing this I am already becoming emotional.

Their homes have been bombed, their families have been broken up, their children have been forced to make perilous crossing with smugglers and toothache and dental infections are now something else that they also,so unfairly, have to battle with.

Anyone who has ever had toothache knows how crippling and painful it can be. With your help, we can prevent these people; mothers, daughters, fathers and sons from needlessly having to go through dehabiliting pain caused by dental disease.

These people are SO grateful and appreciative. Despite having almost nothing, on many occasions they insisted on offering us the little food/drink they had in an attempt to thank us for our help.
